Alone

Aug 2, 2012 By Divya, 12

I walk along this deserted shore
                                                                      Alone
With no one but the seagulls by my side
                                                             Swooping, Diving
The ocean laps onto the sand, small waves
                                                                  Splashing
On the horizon, the fiery red tips of the sun just rising shines on the sea
                                                                   Glowing
I walk along the wet sand, my feet leaving gaping holes behind
                                                                    Filling
                                                             Rising with water

                                                            I see a shiny shell
                                                                   Stooping
                                                         Reaching to pick it up
I turn it over in my hand
                                                                   Beautiful
                                                            I put it back down.
I’ll leave it for someone else to find when this shore is no longer
                                                                  Deserted
                                                                    Empty

                                                  The breeze rustles my clothes
                                                                   Gently
I am silent, but my ears are filled with sounds
                                                        My friends, the seagulls
                                                           The rustling breeze
                                                            The lapping waves

Sometimes I quiet my voice and let this deserted shore get a few words in
                                                          For only in the morning
                                                                    Alone
Can I speak with the beauty of the complex soul of this deserted shore that others call
                                                                   A beach
A light silhouette of a family
                                                                   Walking
Shrieking with delight as the waves touch their feet
                                                                   Appears
                                                        Walking along this shore
                                                        That is no longer deserted

                                                              As I head back
The beauty of the moment is over.
