An Unrealized Dream - A Story
I had been preparing for the Jr. Olympics 2010 for track. I had made it to the Jr. Olympics in my very first year of track. All track season I was the only one on my track team to run long distance mile and three thousand. And there was one coach who worked with me and she helped me eat correctly and train. I had no friends on the team either. And I knew the head coach only cared about the sprinters and it showed on the day of the Jr. Olympics more than ever.
I was excited the whole ride there even though we got lost. We finally arrived there at 8:30am and no team members were there and my coach wasn't able to come. We were losing hope and my event was coming up quick. No was there but me and we had no team card to get in.
The assistant coach arrived with our cards and information. By then, the the 8-9 year old girls were running. I thought it was over and I wouldn't have a chance. But somehow the assistant coach got me in at the last minute.
No warm up, no coach, no stretching.
I arrived on the track awaiting for the competition to begin. Scared and alone, sadness and confusion flashed through my mind. I was given a number and placed on the track. Before I could think the starting gun was fired and I ran the best I could unprepared. I couldn't win and I didn't. I did not make it to the Jr. Olympics. I came in 5th out of 7. So overcome with emotion I ran of the track.
My mom was twice as mad and so was my sister that we left at 9:15 am. I never got to run the 400 meter run. As we left the team was just arriving, sprinters and all.
And I never ran track again and never went to the Jr. Olympics.
A dream that NEVER CAME TRUE
DONT GIVE UP EVERY THING WILL TURN OUT OK. I HAVE HAVE HAD THAT HAPPEN TO ME AND ALL YOU CAN DO IS WORK A LITTLE HARDER OR RUN A LITTLE FASTER. YOU CAN DO IT ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS KEEP GIVING IT YOU ALL. YOU SHOULD NOT GIVE UP BECAUSE YOU HAVE ALREADY WORKED SO HAED AND I DONT WANT TO SEE YOU GIVE UP. YOU CAN DO IT IF IT IS YOUR DREAM THAN ALL YOU CAN DO IS WORK YOUR HARDEST TO ACHEVE.

there was one thing my coach told me: true winners never lose.just because you lost once doesn't mean you'll lose again. you might have really been the best runner there, but you just weren't ready to run. so try again and you' get better!

Well, I don't think your coach was very nice, but you should never give up and keep staying positive.

That sounds really sad.Maybe you could try again. Get to the Jr olympics earlier so if you do get lost you do have time to still get ready for the race.

I feel so bad for you! I can only imagine the sadness you must have felt. When I did a taekwondo tournament I think I had the best form and I came in last. I am doing another tournament though...
