Guess The Monument: Picture Clue!
We are back with our "clue-a-day" contest where you will have a clue that will 'trickle' in each day. This time, you have to guess which famous monument is being referenced here.
You will need to do some offline research to narrow down your answers. Each person gets three guesses for the entire contest. So come every day, get the latest clue and make your guess - remember, the earliest correct answer wins!
We will not publish the answers until the last clue is out.
Are you ready? Let's begin
Day 1 : I am a UNESCO World Heritage Site lying on this latitude: 34.75N
Day 2 : I was built in 6th century CE
Day 3 : I was built by the Kushans, in the Gandharva style of art.
Day 4 : They destroyed me and what is left of me now are but shells.
Day 5 : I was made of sandstone, carved into cliffs.
Since no one got it right, we continue the contest into a second week with the picture of the monument. The inset shows the monument before it was destroyed. What is it? Where is it located?
The right answer is: Bamiyan Buddhas of Afghanistan (see Wikipedia)
