Your Thoughts On September 11

This week, the U.S will mark the tenth anniversary of 9/11. Tragedies such as this are not unique to any one country. They teach us lessons that shape our future as an individual, as a nation and humanity as a whole.
They force us to dig deep and figure out what is really important to each of us. They make us think about what kind of world we want to create for ourselves and future generations.
This week's contest is one where everyone who participates wins. Your entry needs to be thoughtful and meaningful.
Tell us in a few words (or a poem or however else you wish to express yourself) which ONE of the following thoughts come to your mind when you hear (or read) about historical events such as 9/11, and why?
a. Patriotism
b. Global Oneness
c. Fight against terrorism
d. Concern for the future
e. Anything else besides the above

*(the day i heard the story from my family about that saddening, maddening tragedy)
9/11
one of the saddest things to ever see
one of the saddest events that would ever be
to see the twin towers crash and fall
the flight that killed them, killed them all
who lay innocently there
9/11 was so shocking so sad
9/11 was one of the days that go bad
i never enjoyed planes since then
(the day i heard the story from my family)
all they bring to mind is that day
where all it took was a plane
to cause such a devastating sight
bring tears to my eyes when i pray
for it to never happen on a similar building
in a similar way
although i never saw it
but to imagine is sad
if it were true
that it was planned
at a different day
long before
to give the idea
that ruined the land
if planned to destroy the twin towers
twin towers
they should not be rebuilt
to show those who planned
to give them some guilt
the new twin towers
may remind people of the day
the people who died from nine eleven
oh God, forgive them and place them in Heaven
i feel sad thinking about it when my mom or anyone tells me what happened! i mean, this was planned!
Heroes arose from the towers
not one them ever cowards
they risked their lives
for you and me
they risked their lives
for us and peace
They turned those frowns
upside down
not one knew what was planned
and reached out to lend a helping hand
b) and I wrote a poem(:
Why can't some thing stay together?
Like the strap on my bag made of leather
Breaking off and falling
Like the towers on 9|11
I felt horrible and sad that day because I of all the people that died from 11/11/11.
I chose c)9/11 makes me think of how horrible terrorism is and how we must fight to stop it.
I choose a) As long as we stick together and have faith in God we'll be fine. 9/11 was tragic. but it's ten years later and we finally got bin laden
Yes! God will protect us! 9/11 gave people a chance to come and know God! i think God placed 9/11 for a chance of new hope (and new furniture!)
I choose d). 9-11 has been a very tragic event where many American's lost there families and friends. It is a very sad fact and as the first plane crashed it was thought to be an accident, but no when it crashed again we knew it was an attack. We should use this as a reminder and we should plan ahead to have a safer future.
i chose d) because I'm worried that we will not have a safe home or city or state.
When I think of 9/11, I think of courage. I think of how we pulled ourselves from the burning debris and went to war against terrorism. And I am proud of our troops who have been defending us these past 10 years.
I think of how great America has been and how it has helped the world. I think of the French Magazine which stated on the front page,"We are all Americans."
Lastly, I think of the future. I believe this is only one more test. I believe America is, and always will be ready for the next test. My loyalty to my country will never falter.
A Tribute To America's Children Who Fell On 9/11
As the building went up in flames,
Our hearts burned with rage and sadness.
As the dying children gasped for breath,
Our pulses faltered and sorrow filled our lungs.
As the city groaned under the weight of the smoke,
Our souls turned black with inky soot.
As the terrified screams rent the murky sky,
Our peace was slashed by an evil knife.
As the blood of the slain mingled into the dirt,
Our tears fell in a wailing rain to the shaken earth.
But for each life that was extinguished,
each pair of eyes that closed forever,
a new star appeared in the heavens just to watch over us.
Next time you look into Heaven on a clear night, make sure you blow the stars a good-night kiss. They're the biggest and most beautiful part of America.
To those who are buried forever in the sky: we love you and will always remember you.
Wow awesome pome!
That is such a poignant poem Jacki. Well done.
I chose e.) and this is my poem. It is the same one I am using for a competition in school.
9/11- Working Together As A Country
We reached our goal,
Because we worked as a team,
Together we did it
As we did not want defeat
We stood together and didn’t break apart
The impossible became possible
As we fought with our heart
As a nation we joined together,
We all showed great might
To fight for a reason
That we knew was right
This only happened
Because we chose to unite
And did not break from each other
Day or night
Forever we shall be united
And this will be always be our pride!
Lovely poem Anne. Very inspiring.
Thanks.
